Couple of pics from last field day in the brugha 2005.

Glenmalure May 4th/5th, 1974

This exercise is not mentioned in the Company history, but my notes on the enclosed photos, give the date as May 4th, 1974. I recall we camped (bivouaced) in the grounds of the old barracks in Glenmalure on Saturday night before heading out on an exercise on Sunday and then back to the centre. I have captioned the photos with the names of the people I remember but I cannot remember them all, so please let me know and I will update the captions.

Chippendales at the YMCA

I had intended using this photo for a blog entry on R&R in Waterford Barracks, but although certain male-oriented web sites have offered me large sums of money for it, I will post it here instead.

John O’Toole is obviously auditioning for The Village People, while Eamonn Doyle may have already gotten a role with the Chippendales. Roy Briggs’ shorts were probably illegal even then. Vinny Roche was an early advocate of the Atkins Diet, and only Mick Mooney looks “normal” with his Watergate Bugging team T-shirt.

Dun Laoghaire Festival – Years?

I have photos of 2 seperate(I think) Dun Laoghaire Festival parades. Both A & B Coys paraded on each occasion and they certainly seemed like impressive turnouts.

They are useful because of the number of old friends featured
